‘Land and Sea’ tablecloth for Escribà

The Xiringuito Escribà, beachrestaurant, offers Catalan and Mediterranean cuisine where the “Paellas” are the specialty.

CHALLENGE:
To create an original tablecloth with printed jacquard, projecting the extraordinary creativity and sense of humor that is enjoyed at the Xiringuito Escribà.

RESPONSE:
One of the innovative proposals of the Xiringuito Escribà consists of serving different “Paellas” in the same pan (with dividers).

The tablecloth ‘Land and Sea’ portrays the universe proposed by the Xiringuito Escribà, where aerial views of fields are combined with their usual ingredients, thus simulating their paella divided by flavors.

There is also a play on words created from popular proverbs from Spain, where the key concepts of each proverb are changed by ingredients creating funny and provocative stories.
Some examples of proverbs (direct translation): “In the absence of octopus, good are sepias”, “When a venus closes, another one opens”, “In a closed mouth, squids don’t enter”, etc.

The tablecloth ‘Land and Sea’ is made out of a jacquard pattern, where we have leveraged the full visual pattern size to get a wealthy result.
